When the experts differ!
Anyone out there help me? I have done what I thought was some Open Cretan Insertion but then Betty Barnden calls it Herringbone Insertion What do you think? Definitely the cretan stitch and is herringbone all that different?

Gosh, looks like cretan to me. I like how you're playing with insertions. Very cool!

Thankyou for your comment. I am having fun with insertion.
I do agree with you. One could perhaps say that cretan is just herringbone with a zero width stitch on each side but I cannot understand why Betty Barnden in her Bible might use the term 'herringbone' unless it is traditional. A bit like the difference between blanket and buttonhole - the needle lace experts hate the terms to be interchangeable but I am not into needle lace.
